If you are not familiar with how our challenge works...Please read 2008 Challenge below. Our 2009 Challenge worked in the same manner.
2009 Sewing Challenge: The theme was the color RED. In conjunction with the Bernina of America "Sew Red" program, our silent auction raised $1,000 for the American Heart Association. Heart Disease is the #1 killer of women in the US.
Winners of the 2009 Challenge: 1st-Mary Ann Akers, 2nd-Beverley Garside, 3rd-Bobbie Bradford.
2008 Sewing Challenge: The theme for this contest/challenge was anything found in the baby nursery. This was baby clothing, blanket, toy. Also, wallhanging or decorator items for the baby nursery. Quilted, embroidered, whatever technique. The item must be sewn on a sewing machine. All the items were assigned a number and placed on display. Customers voted on their favorite during April and into May 2008. The winner, Pat Stocker, received a $250 Gift Certificate from the store. 2nd place,Beverley Garside,-$100 Gift Certificate. 3rd place,Wanda Coble,-$50 Gift Certificate. All who participated received a gift. Please Note: ALL items were donated and placed in a silent auction. The auction raised $1,000 for the NWA Childrens Shelter in honor of our longtime teacher Terry Renner and our founder Vida Baker. In Addition, 2 new sewing machines were donated to teach children sewing classes at the shelter.
Our 2007 Challenge (Silent Auction of Christmas items from the contest) raised over $1,500 for the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Thanks for all for your endless help and support last year. This brought our 2006/2007 year total donation to Susan Komen to well over $2,000. Congratulations to all club members!
